When Chetan was in ninth grade, he started playing cricket at Vidya Vihar Secondary School. The school was located five kilometers from his village. Chetan started advanced cricket coaching in Bhavnagar. He started playing for Bharucha Club in Bhavnagar. He was soon selected in Saurashtra's U-16 and U-19 teams for playing good cricket, but he could not balance cricket and education.
