ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah
Mehmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan cannot be kept on the FATF gray list.
FATF Gave 27 Points To Pakistan:
According to
details, in a statement, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that on
technical grounds, FATF gave 27 points to Pakistan and also acknowledged that
Pakistan has fully implemented 26 out of 27 points.
In a
statement, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan has made
significant progress on the 27th point and we intend to do more. In such a
situation, there is no room for Pakistan to be put on the gray list.
Criticizing
the international community, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that
some forces wanted the sword of FATF's gray list to hang over our heads. Done
Money Laundering Should
Not Take Place:
Foreign
Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that it is in our interest that money
laundering should not take place. Pakistan's goal is to stop the financing of
terrorists and this is in the interest of Pakistan which we will continue to
do.
He said that
it has to be seen whether FATF is a technical forum or a political one. Is the
Financial Action Task Force not being used for political purposes? We want to
stop terrorist financing.
It may be
recalled that earlier the FATF had decided to put Pakistan on the gray list,
the Financial Action Task Force had asked Pakistan to implement 6 more points.
FATF Acknowledged That:
The FATF
acknowledged that Pakistan has completed 26 out of 27 points, acknowledging the
progress made by Pakistan, and said that Pakistan has completed 2 out of 3 more
points since February 2021.
