Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that a solution to the Afghan problem is not possible by force.
Talking to
media in Multan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that he was in touch with senior Taliban leadership.
The Afghan Foreign Minister has also been invited to visit Pakistan.
"We do
not want civil war and instability in Afghanistan," he said. "Afghans
are also consulting with other countries in the region to resolve the
issue."
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that
useful discussions have been held with the US Secretary of State on the Afghan
issue. Three meetings have been held with Afghanistan, the role of Pakistan is
being watched by the whole world. Shah Mehmood said that DG Faiz and The Army
Chief briefed the parliamentarians. We are trying to contact the senior
leadership of the Taliban. He is also in touch with representatives of
Afghanistan's elected government.
Invited the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan to Visit Pakistan
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that
he had invited the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan to visit Pakistan and he was
waiting for him. The effort is to unite all the forces of Afghanistan.
"We
don't want to go back to the 1990s, we want peace and stability in
Afghanistan," he said.
"We
have erected a fence at the border to check illegal border crossings. We want
people coming and going to Afghanistan to come through legal channels. We are
serving more than 3 million Afghan refugees, to carry more burdens," he
