Washington: A Pentagon spokesman has said that the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan is 90 percent complete.

According to the foreign news agency,
the Pentagon says that it will maintain its air capability even after the
withdrawal from Afghanistan because our commitment to a stable and secure
Afghanistan has not changed. A Pentagon spokesman said that our contractors are
Afghan security forces and Afghan air force. While the strike group in the
Middle East could be useful for Afghanistan.
He said the
withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan was almost 90 percent complete, while
the withdrawal from Bagram air base was coordinated with the Afghan government
and security forces. Bagram is the last air base to be handed over to Afghan
security forces. The spokesman added that some US troops would be present to
protect the diplomats.
It is to be
noted that after the US withdrawal, there have been reports of fierce clashes
between the Afghan army and the Taliban in Afghanistan and the Afghan Taliban
have so far captured more than 200 districts.
"Despite
our strong position on the battlefield, we are serious about negotiations and
will present a written peace plan to the Afghan government next month,"
said Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Afghan Taliban.
