Many northwestern parts of the Pacific Ocean, where air conditioning has never been considered necessary in the past, are experiencing the hottest weather in history.
The city of Portland, Oregon, reached 42.4 degrees Celsius on Saturday, the hottest day in the city's history. Most of the stores in the city have all the fans and air conditioners sold out.
Eight cities in Oregon and Washington states have recorded the highest temperatures to date in the ongoing heat wave.
Even in the northern city of Seattle, temperatures rose to a high of 37.8 degrees Celsius, the hottest day of June in Seattle. This is only the fourth time in history that the temperature in the city of Seattle has reached such a high level.
Such high temperatures in these areas are also dangerous because it is not customary to use air conditioners here.
According to reports, the temperature will remain high in these areas on Sunday and the heat wave is likely to continue till next week.

Authorities in the United States, Washington and Oregon have eased restrictions on coronavirus in air conditioning centers, swimming pools, cinemas and shopping malls.
The Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon has opened to the public as a cooling center. With a capacity of 300 people, air conditioners are completely sold out in most places.
